Those of you that have been following my Tuscan journey in these past few years will have seen that I have formed a strong connection to one particular place, at the bottom of the Tiber valley.
The National Archive of Diaries (L’Archivio Diaristico Nazionale) is a unique place, archiving diaries of Italians across class, nation, age and time periods… The diaries are stored one after the other, alphabetically… A sort of democratic method of ensuring that each is valued and given space to be read, experienced. In my case, also space to inspire. While I have just finished work on another short film inspired by one of the treasures of The Archive, I also had the pleasure of creating this short film to celebrate 30 years of the National Archive.
You can watch it here (I’ve translated the Italian into English subtitles which you can access using YouTube’s video system):
Below are two other films I made about the Archive…
Dove Vive La Memoria (2013)
BELLA TOSCANA: Fondazione Archivio Diaristico Nazionale (2012)
