Photography

I started photography late in life, with a Sony Cybershot point and shoot given to me on my 18th birthday. I took it out of its box that morning and took it to rehearsal to take photos of the band. Not much has changed in the last six years, I’m still trying to balance all my creative endeavours, and i’m still shooting everywhere I go. As I learned more and more about photography, I expanded my repertoire by shooting portraits of my friends.

I have since exchanged that little camera for a lighting rig, a bunch of lenses and two professional cameras. I still shoot a lot of photos of friends, but now I’ve had the opportunity to shoot some of my favourite musicians live, and meet some amazing people.

I have always found joy in making someone look great in a photograph. These days everybody can take a picture on their phone, but a really nice portrait can be much harder to come by. The smiles I see after showing people just how fantastic they look through the camera makes it all worth it.

I also love showing people how I do it, which is why you’ll find some behind the scenes videos on this website. I’ve only done a few so far (mostly because it’s hard to film a shoot when you’re supposed to be taking photos as well!), but I hope they inspire you to get out there and take some great snaps for yourself.
